What's Up?

Hey, it's my wife's birthday! And she's over 10 weeks pregnant! So, what else is new? I left the Concierge profession and started working at Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) as an Admin Assistant - Finance. Well who would've thought I'd get a job like this one? I hate numbers, I hate to count, I hate memorizing things and I sure hate anything related to math. Yet, here I am working on finance and accounting. It was tough to start with, still is, but I take it as a challenge. If I don't test my limits and my capabilities, I may never know how good I am at anything at all. Through this job, I had an interesting experience joining the company organize an event called Culinaire Malaysia 2013. I get to stay at an executive suite at some fancy hotel in the heart of Kuala Lumpur for five nights. Throughout the event, we had to start working at 6.30am and wrap it up late at night around 10pm. Though as exhausting as it may be, it was definitely fun. As one of the Finance/Accounting personnel, I was assigned to handle the ticketing counter. Counting and closing almost RM25,000 cash at the end of each day, I'd began to like numbers instead. Me and Ms. Mages, the Executive Finance lady, we counted the hell out of those cash repeatedly until our hands were sore. She is my finance 'sifu'. A very nice lady. So we all just finished managing the whole 4-day event as a team last week with flying colours if you will.
So, in this new job, I get my own namecard. I get some outdoor jobs delivering/collecting cheques and documents from time to time. We organize numerous events like Culinaire Malaysia, Charity Jam and Charity Treasure Hunt to name a few. In fact, the 14th Charity Jam is coming up this 5th of October which will be held at Rum Jungle. This one is going to be very interesting for me because when it comes to music, especially live bands, count me in! And guess what? When that is all over I get to follow them to Hanoi, Vietnam later in that month! It's a company trip which I am lucky enough to tag along with. I think I'm going to be happy here. I finally get a chance to work in an office and get the day off on weekends just like everybody else. No more odd jobs with odd hours and shifts and whatnot. Only, it is much further from home and I have to put up with an hour and a half of traffic jam, daily in the morning, and an hour or so in the evening just to get home. Other than that, I am quite happy so far. I thank God for giving me this much needed opportunity. I also thank my sister-in-law and her friend for introducing me to this job. I meet new, wonderful people here and this will be a very good experience for me. So cheers to me and all the good news I bring. Alhamdulillah. I feel so blessed.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson - A Fight That Never Should Have Happened

Jake Paul is a polarizing figure. Known for his antics as a YouTuber, his time as a Disney star, and his even more controversial career as a boxer, Paul has become a lightning rod for both fans and critics alike. Seven years ago, Joe Weller jumpstarted YouTube boxing—a platform where YouTubers with beef settle things in the ring. Two of the biggest YouTubers in America, Logan Paul and his brother Jake, accepted the challenge of YouTube bigshots from the UK: KSI and his brother, Deji. After winning his fight with Deji, Jake's boxing career took on a life of its own. He elevated the crossover genre, taking on MMA fighters, retired boxers, and even a former NBA player. The thing is, Jake put in the work and won every single fight, with a few knockouts as the cherry on top. You’d think MMA fighters would have the upper hand in a boxing match against an amateur boxer like Jake, but the reality is that boxing is a whole different art. A world champion MMA fighter would excel in an MMA ca...

My Tik Tok Video Went Viral!

Three days ago I shot a short video which had been in the planning a couple of days prior. Before that, I stumbled across a Tik Tok video that really caught my attention. I drew inspiration and information from that video and decided to make my own. So the project began. The video is about how the bank system works. I remember how a lot of people (including me) don't fully understand how banks make their money. The topic about banks is full of financial jargons that not only confuses the hell out of the general public, but also financial, economy and math students as well. Having seen a much easier way to understand this, I decided to make a video about it.  The plot is just a simple dialogue between a banker and 2 customers. It was my first time acting and I played all 3 characters. Thank God it turned out okay and not so amateurish. Shooting began at 10am and I finished editing the video at 3pm, all done in my son's room. As soon as I uploaded it to all social platforms, I ...

My Sabah Adventure

There are only two states left in Malaysia that I haven't set foot in: Sabah and Kelantan. I recently got the chance to finally cross Sabah off that list. After six years without an organized company trip, they decided to bring it back in 2024. Initially, the plan was to go to Da Nang, Vietnam, but due to the ongoing "Cuti-cuti Malaysia" campaign, it would seem counterintuitive—and perhaps a bit hypocritical—for the Malaysian Association of Hotels, the country's most prominent hotel association, to orchestrate its staff trip overseas. We landed and stayed in Kota Kinabalu (KK). I must say, KK wasn't as busy as Kuching. There was less traffic, fewer people walking the streets, and I suspect the city is much smaller. We stayed at the Pacific Sutera Hotel, a five-star luxury hotel overlooking a beautiful harbor where ships and yachts come and go. This hotel was built on a man-made island, and the rooms were spacious enough for the three of us. While our bosses attend...
