"Sunblock"

The Pool Art Project - Sunblock

This was our second attempt at recording which we managed to complete. Well actually MY first attempt, since the drums were recorded first here at BOM Productions before we made our first song, Chasing You. The studio only provided drum track recording. So as complicated as it sounds, after i completed my drum session (took only 40 minutes of recording time), we later had to bring the recorded track to IZ Studio to further complete the song. It was here that our friend/band member Nuar completed his bass track session successfully. In the same month, Epul, and Nuar's twin brother Man were scheduled to record together on the same day. Unfortunately, there were numerous misunderstandings between the whole band at that time that neither Epul nor Man showed up that day. I still remember that disappointing moment, crystal clear. It was the eve of Hari Raya Qorban. If it's one thing I've learned, it is how difficult in reality for a band to stay together, free of feuds. Not that i didn't see this coming. We had the same typical problems among band members since school. But this time we were serious enough with our music to actually take it to recording, I didn't expect such misunderstandings to grow to that extent and interrupt our progress. These conflicts really became an eye-opener for me. Efforts can end up in vain. So, because of all that, the song was put on hold for quite some time. We all moved on with our separate lives. This was when me and Epul reunited to record Chasing You at BOM Productions.

Later, due to the unavoidable complications and disputes, me and Epul decided to continue the mission without our lead guitarist. We made appointments with IZ Studio and continued the recording session for Sunblock. In two days (i can't recall the number of hours spent) we covered Epul's rhythm guitar, my 2nd guitar and solo (which Man was supposedly assigned for), and finally Epul's lead vocals throughout the song followed by my backing vocals on the choruses. With that we had our second single mixed, mastered and burnt onto 3 CD's, and copied on a thumbdrive which we proudly bring home with us. Our very first official rock song to be recorded. Epul wrote this one too. It's not the best of songs, nor Epul's most creative work. But I'm extremely proud of it. It's really not bad for a first rock single, i mean we did great! And that glorious feeling we get when we successfully finish something we love to do, i can't stress it enough, it's just fantastic! Hopefully we'll come up with more songs to record. I'm gonna try one of my own songs next, insyaAllah.

Becoming A Tiktok Affiliate

For months, I’ve been pondering whether or not I should start promoting products on TikTok as a TikTok Affiliate. On one hand, I already have a catalog of original content that I create on TikTok. On the other hand, promoting products on the platform could turn into a side hustle, helping me bring in some extra income. The only question that remains is this: If I start doing affiliate marketing on TikTok, will it betray my followers and viewers? Imagine being in their shoes. You go on TikTok to watch your favorite creators doing their thing, but instead of seeing creative content, you start seeing them promote skincare and household products. That would be disappointing, to say the least. I asked my family and friends about it, and they all said the same thing: In this day and age, everyone could use some extra money, and it makes perfect sense to seize such an opportunity. Not everyone is eligible to become a TikTok Affiliate, though. You need at least 1,000 followers to unlock the ...

Malays Are Not In Danger. Fear Is The Real Danger.

Malays have long carried a fear, the idea that the Chinese will one day take over the country. Traumatized by the 13th May incident and with politicians further amplifying the notion during every election season, this belief became deeply rooted. It is repeated in family conversations, passed down through generations, and used as a convenient tool to divide Malaysians. But when we examine this narrative closely, it does not hold up. It is not reality. It is strategy. Let’s debunk it. Malaysia’s Parliament has 222 seats. To amend the Constitution or make any major changes, a government would need two thirds, which is 148 seats. In the 2018 general election, Pakatan Harapan, with DAP included, won 113. In 2022, they won 82. Both numbers were far short of 148. And no Chinese-majority party has ever, in the history of Malaysia, controlled Parliament on its own. The only way to form government has always been through coalitions that include Malay-led parties. Beyond numbers, the Constitutio...

Vlogging Cured My Social Anxiety

Although I no longer post weekly vlogs, I still pick up the camera every now and then. I want to share how vlogging helped me grow socially and rebuild my confidence. For most of my life, I’ve been introverted. Crowds and social situations made me anxious, and I often felt like I didn’t quite fit in. Over the years, those feelings grew heavier, to the point where my confidence took a real hit. Speaking in front of people — or even being in a busy room — could trigger panic, sweating, and an overwhelming urge to escape. Then in 2018, I stumbled into vlogging. At first, it was just an experiment — a way to push myself into discomfort. I set myself a 50-vlog challenge, and by the time I hit my 50th, I realized I loved it. I kept going for years, posting regularly until 2023, when I slowed down. What I didn’t expect was the transformation. Vlogging forced me to step outside my shell, to speak up, and to share my voice openly. Over time, my confidence came back stronger than ever. Speaking ...
